NIMO WITH LOVE x
CASA PERNICE
Sestri Levante, Liguria
A house on the hills above the Ligurian sea
It doesn’t happen often: being the very first guest in a hotel. This is what happened at Casa Pernice, the guest house of Giorgia and Davide on the Riviera coast near Sestri Levante. And it isn't always the case that you then immediately fall so hard for the place and the people that it turns into a collaboration. But that is exactly how it was here, in the home of Giorgia and Davide, who turned a house on the cliffs into a gem. So, together with Giorgia, we designed four styles—an ode to the allure of the Riviera, its light, and the blue sea.
A shared love for the good things
Time hasn’t stood still at Casa Pernice, yet the three individual guest rooms feel like time capsules. You can tell that the couple from Como are authorities on interiors, having long traded in curated, exclusive mid-century pieces—their second business, by the way. No room is like the other, and each is a journey back to truly great vintage designer pieces from various eras. Yet Casa Pernice remains completely unpretentious. Color and art contrast with wood and retro fittings. A little gem, high above the sea and still just a few minutes’ walk to the beach.
Ten-year-old sourdough and delightful collectibles
The house would be the perfect backdrop to photograph our table linen. The porcelain collection—partly for sale—was ultimately too much for us: we bought whatever would fit in the car. The kitchen at Casa Pernice, by the way, is more than worth mentioning. Giorgia has a sourdough starter that is over 10 years old and has been nurtured ever since—even when she’s on vacation. Anyone who bakes bread with such care understands the essentials: a kitchen without unnecessary frills, healthy and more than delicious. When booking, you should discuss with the hosts if you’d like to eat there—that’s just how it is with fresh cooking.
THE LIMITED EDIT
As seen at Casa Pernice …
It's not a hotel. It's the home of Giorgia and Davide, and you'll be the guest…
